Happy 7th Birthday Putra Adam

Setiap tahun bila orang lain merayakan xmas, kami sekeluarga akan meraikan sambutan ulangtahun kelahiran - Adam. Yes, he was born on xmas day. 7 tahun yang lepas, I gave birth to him. C-sect di pagi hari selepas subuh. Patutnya 26hb plan, tapi malam xmas eve tu mengidam makan kek secret recipe tak dapat..marah kat dedi sampai pecah ketuban! Drama kan? Tak lupa sampai sekarang uols. Lagipun orang kata kalau apa2 hal anak sulung memang sentimental, memang takkan lupa.

Tahun ni tak plan untuk celebrate macam tahun2 sebelum nya. Sorry ye sayang. Atok baru meninggal October yang lepas, so mami tak rasa a celebration is suitable at this moment. Kita go makan2 somewhere je lah, tapi hadiah tetap diusahakan! So on that day, we all pegi makan dekat TGIF, IOI Mall puchong. Many times cuba ingatkan dia..bukan party..celebration tu yang penting.. he's a grown up boy now. So kena jadi lebih bertanggungjawab, jadi good boy, anak soleh..bla bla bla... memang semua mak-mak suka bebelkan? Cakap benda yang sama berulang2..cakap tu kan doa? :-)

Tahun ni tak de photographer nak amik good photos. :-( Butttt...fortunately ada helper yang dapat tolong amik gambar ala kadar. Jadi la dari tak de kan....

Tahun ni Mami wajibkan all to wear white as theme color. Nampak sedondon and I pretty happy semua orang comply walaupun at the end of the makan2 baju both of them dah macam belacan. Kena sos ..kena sodas...sabar je lah! By the way, I think kids clothes beli dekat H&M adalah berbaloi. It's reasonable and trendy. Both of them wearing blue pants cost RM69.90 and long sleeve round neck t-shirts RM25.90.

Resepi sotong masak lemak kuning

Semalam masak ni. Adam suka sangat sampai hirup kuah dari pinggan! Whatsapp dekat hubby gambar masak lemak dalam periuk dia kata terliur! Ahahhahaa...

Betul la orang yang pandai masak kata...memasak ni campak2 je dah siap masak. Sekarang baru I faham. Dengan bangga nya nak bagi tahu, I dah pandai masak now. Walaupun bukan taraf chef ke apa but at least boleh nak makan anak beranak. Nak jemput tetamu pun insya allah boleh kot. Cuma tak baper nak cekap. Bab lain tu cekap pulak! hahahahah..

Bahan-bahannya:
10 ekor sotong saiz sederhana – dipotong gegelang //5 ekor je
Kacang buncis – ikut keperluan //ganti kacang panjang
1 biji tomato - dibelah empat //letak setengah biji je
1 biji cili merah – dibelah dua tetapi tidak putus // letak 2 biji
1 biji cili hijau – dibelah dua tetapi tidak putus
2 cawan pati santan (sekiranya guna santan sawit KHALIS, kurangkan kepada 1 cawan sahaja)
Sedikit kunyit serbuk
Garam dan gula secukup rasa


Bahan-bahan ditumis:
2 sudu besar makan minyak
1 labu bawang besar saiz kecil – dihiris
2 ulas bawang putih – dihiris
1 batang serai diketuk
1 inci halia - dihiris

Cara-caranya:
1. Sotong digaul dengan serbuk kunyit dan diketepikan.
2. Panaskan minyak di dalam kuali. Masukkan serai terlebih dahulu diikuti dengan bawang besar, bawang putih, dan halia. Tumis sehingga naik bau dan bawang kekuningan.
3. Selepas itu masukkan sotong dan kacau selama 1 minit. Kemudian tuangkan santan dan kacau rata lagi. Sekiranya kuah agak pekat, bolehlah ditambah sedikit air.
4. Masukkan kacang buncis, buah tomato, cili merah, dan cili hidup. Perasakan dengan garam dan gula. Setelah cukup rasanya,dan kuah telah mendidih, bolehlah ditutup api.
5. Sedia dihidangkan. Sebagai set pembuka selera bolehlah dihidangkan bersama ikan masin, sambal belacan dan ulam-ulaman.

Book Review: The world is flat

Hellooooo... it's been a long time since my last update. Bersawang la sangat kat sini. hehehehhe. Busy teramat menyiapkan thesis dan tugasan yang lain. Hanya Allah yang tahu macam mana kelam kabut nye I masa seminggu dua yang lepas...dan foreseeing seminggu dua yang akan datang jugak! Insya Allah, lepas abis semester ni boleh take a break dengan aman. Dah nak grad!!!! yahuuuuuu

Okay banyak benar sebenarnya nak update. But let me start with this one first. Esok ada presentation for our book review assignment. Me and Kak Ina as usual sparing partner sejati. Hahahhaha, patutnya rasa macam tak sempat nak buat this week nak mintak slot for next week. Tapi Kak Ina suggested to just do this week whatever yang sempat since next week ada lagi satu Project DSS presentation. Weeeee, and I'm here is struggling with thesis writing jugak. Rasa nak nangis, tapi tak pe la...mana boleh ikut kita cuba ikut. By the way, Kak Ina siap hadiahkan buku tu lagi (dah beli but belum dapat, she will give this Saturday)...we all dah ada ebook sebab this Saturday dah nak present maka I was referring to the ebook je lah while doing this assignment. 674 pages flipped through pakai note 2 or laptop jek. Tabah!

Obviously within 2-3 days, it is not possible for me to read word by word the 674 pages. Maka, we have to have a better strategy supaya assignment siap and in the end tak kantoi dengan prof masa sesi soal jawab nanti as if we read the entire book. Just before I go to how I did it, let us understand apa itu book review. I got this one (may not be the best but suffice to describe the meaning) from Los Angeles Valley College, which you can read full in here, a book review is not retelling nor a summary. "A book review is a description, critical analysis, and an evaluation on the quality, meaning, and significance of a book. It should focus on the book's purpose, content, and authority"

So how I did it?
1. Get copy of previous students presentation or book review summary (kalau ada)
2. Search on the Internet for couple of book reviews for that particular book - confirm ada punya!
3. Look at the table of content, chapters assignment and etc. I wrote it down somewhere in piece of paper
4. Read the first 100 pages word by word , jot down key points whichever deem important on that same peace of paper used in #3
5. Take the chapters you will be focusing, read the first two paragraphs and the last paragraph. If you have time scheme through the middle. Don't forget to jot down key points in that same sheet of paper. You will see lots of writing and cloud of words by now.
6. Do up the slide deck. Take a look of mine in the below. I used icons to help me jog the memory on certain stories in the content. I found it useful.
7. It's done!

This book entitled 'The world is flat' by author Thomas L. Friedman. Now it is already version 3.0, a well received book by many people all over the whole who eager to know about globalization. It's a worth book to buy and read. I like the way the author wrote the book by quoting other people he met on the field while working as journalist. I was at first thought he's a little judgmental about Islam being terrorist..but further reading made me understood that he actually had different view. That vast majority of Islam don;t share the violent agenda.

Farm in the City, Seri Kembangan

Uols pergi mana cuti sekolah ni? Kesian kids sampai sekarang belum bawak mereka bercuti dalam erti kata sebenar. Macam mana nak cuti, dedi has to work while mami sibuk buat thesis dan assignments yang berlambak. I really feel guilty!

Just to share dengan semua... kalau tak tau nak ke mana...
i. your boys/girls suka tengok animals (semua budak suka rasanya!)
ii. zoo dah pernah pergi ..banyak kali
iii. bird park pun dah pergi..sekali dua
iv. tak nak jauh2...sekitar KL/Selangor

Sila lah bawak pergi ke Farm in the City dekat Seri Kembangan tu! Seronok tempat tu uols. Teringat kembali zaman kecik dulu sauk ikan dalam sungai...tangkap rama2..pepatung...main dengan rabbit.. now ur kids can do it too...tapi kena bayar la.. go for family package of 2 adults 2 kids..harga RM110. Dapat 4 kotak air minuman with RM`10 voucher. Better pegi in the morning atau pun awal petang coz tempat tu tutup pukul 6pm and last pony ride at 5pm.

Ok malas nak cerita panjang...ada amik banyak gambar hari tu. puas hati! :-) Sorry ya gambar not in order.

A day as an emcee for a seminar

Ingat tak hari tu cerita pasal ada event dekat UiTM kelas kita orang kena organize? Ada blog dekat sini. I jadi emcee. Ni second time jadi emcee untuk event kelas. Pengalaman jadi emcee ni seronok sebab kita control the majlis pastu semua orang tunggu kita nak umum...next agenda.. jemput makan! ... selesailah sudah! Walaupun I ni agak pendiam orang nya, tapi jadi emcee ni rasanya manageable. I had fun doing it.

Bila jadi emcee macam hari tu, I kena kenal VIP yang hadir dan guest speakers. Bukan kenal sahaja but their full names must be announced correctly. Tu penting tu, sebab I don't like ppl wrongly sebut nama I. Sebagai emcee juga we have to be well verse of the agenda, beritahu audience dekat mana toilet pun I kira penting juga :p Emcee kena prepare script sebab nanti ada details yang terlupa.. Emcee jugak kena tahu nak operate cordless mic dan kalau mic abis bateri kena standby mic lain untuk speakers di depan.

Kalau I jadi emcee, I always try to relate or recap in brief apa yang speaker terdahulu cakap. Contoh nya, speaker yang pertama beritahu 6 tips nak jadi entrepreneur, di mana tip #1 bermula dengan "let's do more than just the assignment given by lecturers". Haaaa, I'd remind the audience of the first tip while thanking the first speaker then introducing the second speaker! Macam ada continuity di situ! Technically it has to be that way...baru macam ada 'life' to what the emcee said kan?
