Pengalaman menguruskan anak berkhatan / bersunat

Assalamualaikum and Hi,

Anak-anak bujang I dua orang sekali nak disunatkan. Adam (8 tahun) dan Idrees (6 tahun). Actually bersunat ke berkhatan? Kalau ikut Wikipedia (Kandungan laman ini mungkin mengandungi unsur-unsur seksual, lampau dan sebagainya :p), ianya sama maksud. Heheheh, therefore can be used interchangeably.

First
Kena research pasal teknik berkhatan.

Zaman sekarang dah moden, tak bersunat atas batang pisang lagi. Kikikiki.. Heeee, I don't know the medical term of it. But heard hubby discussing about it the other day. Leave it to the gentleman to decide.

We have decided to go for Cautier. Katanya cepat baik dan kurang pendarahan.

Second

I called to make inquiry. Dah dapat details such as time slot, harga (RM185) and etc. Discussed with hubby and decided...hari ahad 7 Dec, 10am.

Third
Kena beli kain pelikat saiz budak. Mahal rupanya kain pelikat budak. Indonesian brand RM18.90 beli kat shah alam hari tu.

Tali! Tak kisah la tali apa. Janji boleh buat tempat nak gantung as explained earlier. :D

Make sure ada space yang sesuai for the boys to rest. Sebabnya, makan tidur dekat situ lah for few days sebelum nak sembuh. Kitaorang memang bajet depan TV je lah senang.

As part of the preparation, kena pep talk with them too. Make sure they are mentally ready.

Hari kejadian
Bangun awal...Get ready to the clinic. Makan breakfast dekat mamak sebelah klinik tu. Lepas registration, rasa macam under controlled so ajak the kids to wait in the waiting area dalam klinik tu. Ramaiiiiii budak nak bersunat tunggu turn. Chillex je diorang.

Actually my boys also okay je memula. Tengok Sponge bob sambil kunyah mentos. Tak ada nampak tanda-tanda pelik. Of course I can sense they are a bit worried but overall okay lah masih dalam kawalan.

Bila sampai turn diorang.... satu bilik tu dua orang sekali masuk.

Idrees okay sangat! I am so proud of him. Berani sebab dia sendiri yang volunteer to go first. Adam memang dah chicken out. After 20 mins still tak masuk2 lagi while Idrees in the midst of procedure. Sekali nurse bukak pintu bilik, so happened he heard Idrees "adoi adoi dedi tolonggggg". Jerit sikit lah but still he didn't cry.

Adam apa lagi. Pucat. Then mundar mandir...then terus lari keluar dari klinik. Duduk atas tembok tu. I didn't go and chase him. I wanted to be with Idrees sebenarnya...So I waited outside of the room tapi masih boleh nampak Adam from a far.

Masa tu, I knew that Adam memang tak berjaya untuk disunatkan.

Bila adik dah keluar, I offered to send him home. And Dedi still continue to persuade Adam bersunat.

Selepas almost 3 hours......it was vain effort. Tak berjaya!

Dah balik rumah.... Idrees kejap2 nak makan. Tips penjagaan makanan not so difficult. We just avoid telur and seafood. Masa lepas sunat tu, first menu was nasi ayam. Air minum macam biasa. But hubby told me to kurangkan bagi air manis. He read somewhere that elok minum air kosong je.
Tak mandi dah 2 hari. Cuma lap and tukar baju. Ubat 3 times a day dan ada ubat sapu.

Idrees is recovering well. Insya Allah in few more days dah boleh pakai seluar!

Alhamdulillah.

As for Adam, the first night lepas tak jadi sunat tu. He was down with fever. Kesian. Mungkin takut sangat. So, we decided to postpone nak sunatkan dia until more suitable time. We will see how. Kalau nak buat full GA sunat, will cost a bomb. Anyhow, we will weigh that alternative.

Panjang cerita kali ni.... Till then!

Must have kids medicine at home

kids medicine
always have these supply at home ; one for worm, gas, flu, fever/pain and cough

I don't know about you. But if I were to choose 5 items must-have supply at home, it would be those in the above. I have 2 kids age 7 and 5. At the time of writing this, the younger one Idrees is having flu, cough, vomiting and the doctor suspected that he has worm. I just got to know that we have to de-worms the kids every 6 months or so. I never gave such treatment before and will need to take heed of this from now on.

When kids are unwell, they usually cranky and clingy. As much as possible, they want mami to be around. Rub them, care for them and just be there. As parent, we have to be patient. Though sometimes we have other things to attend to..but please try our best to put everything else aside. I always tell myself, one day when they grow up they don't need me that much anymore and I'm going to miss all these. :-(

Here is how to get your kids take the medicine and here for top 5 things to do when your child is having fever.

Tell me what's your 5 items must-have?

Top 5 things to do when your child is having fever

Once in a while, my kids will have fever. I always tell myself not to take it lightly. Especially a continuous high fever during night time. Don't be your own doctor when it comes to this. Unless you sememangnya doktor la kan. You will know that your child is having fever when:
1. Usually hotter than normal at the forehead - that's obvious
2. complain of headache
3. puke after food/drink intake

In my case, top 5 things I would do when my kids having fever are:
1. Regularly take the temperature (I have digital thermometer at home - redeem from Anmum many years ago but still in very good condition! :-)
note: Temperature above 38 C consider feverish. Approaching 40 C is alarming
2. Give the medicine i.e. fever relief syrup. Here for tips to give medicine.
3. Put on KoolFever the fever relief cooling patch on the forehead
4. Dress your child lightly e.g shorts with singlet
5. Use damp towel to dab/wipe around the neck, armpit and back of knee to bring the fever down

Do this with love and lots of pray. Insya Allah they will recover. Till Then!

How to get your kids take the medicine

So we took him to clinic at about 11pm. Semalaman suhu badan juga agak panas. Luckily ada digital thermometer di rumah so I can always check his temperature.

Usually, I will have to get ready secawan air suam. My only tips is to do what works. Lain anak, lain perangai dan ragamnya. Sudah tentu we can try other methods berbentuk positive encouragement dan rewards. Ataupun make it fun seperti role play doctor-patient dan cheer song bila si anak nak minum ubat. Selalunya bila beri ubat, suruh mereka bismillah and I will recite selawat then lepas tu doa la sikit. Never underestimate kekuatan doa seorang ibu uols! :-)
